Coral Gables Historical Resources Department has proposed for a historic district to be added to as many as 60 homes on Coral Way. If passed, residents to homes between Alhambra Circle and Anderson Road will have a new level of review to go through before updating their home.
Many of the homes in this proposed area are among Coral Gables oldest, having been built in the 1920’s and 1930’s.
Many of the residents who were asked seem to agree with the new changes, as they feel it keeps the area looking nice and home values high. Modifications that require review under this bill include changing the landscaping or color of the home. Approval from the Historical Resources Department would be required before permits are issued. On Wednesday evening, an informational session was held. All attendees supported the new district.
On February 20 at 4 p.m. the Historic Preservation Board will discuss the proposal at City Hall, 405 Biltmore Way.
