The 17th annual Halloween on the Miracle Mile will take place from 4 to 7 p.m. Oct. 31. Families can take their kids trick-or-treating along the Mile and its adjacent streets. Other activities include a photo booth at the Leica Store, story time at Books & Books, a kids’ costume contest at the Actors’ Playhouse at the Miracle Theatre and the fourth annual Doggie Costume Contest at the Coral Gables Museum.

Continuing its 25-year tradition, JohnMartin’s Restaurant and Pub, 253 Miracle Mile, Coral Gables, is hosting a Halloween party at 9 p.m. Oct. 31. On the first floor, there will be a pirate-themed costume party with Karaoke; on the second floor, there will be an ’80s disco party with a DJ.
Free. There will be food and $5 Captain Morgan drink specials.
Fairchild Tropical Botanic Garden ‘Friendly Creatures of the Night’
Fairchild will introduce nocturnal animals and critters that scamper around the garden on Oct. 23. Guests can partake in twilight walks, get an up-close look at owls, bats, bugs at the Science Village, and watch an outdoor screening of the Disney movie, A Bug’s Life.
Admission is $25 for adults, $18 for seniors, $12 for children ages 6 to 17, and free for members and children 5 and under. The event will be 5:30 p.m. Thursday at the garden, 10901 Old Cutler Rd., Coral Gables. Tickets can be purchased at fairchildgarden.org. Call 305-667-1651.
